MY LADY CAPTOR
Lady Sorcha Hay is devastated to learn that English soldiers are holding her young brother captive. Penniless, the only way she can pay for his freedom is by taking a hostage for ransom herself. Her captive—a wounded knight plucked from the battlefield—is furious to be imprisoned by a woman. But nothing will stop Sorcha from keeping Sir Ruari Kerr enslaved, even as the sight of his bronzed body sets her mind reeling and her senses afire . . .
With her dark mane and soft curves, Sorcha is everything Ruari has ever desired in a woman. As she tends to his wounds, Ruari fights the intense attraction that ignites at her very touch. But he can’t afford to lose his heart to his tempting captor. For when he’s finally rescued by his men, Sorcha will pay dearly for her treachery—and loving her could put both their lives in peril . . .
MY REVIEW: 3.5 STARS
My Lady Captor is a delectably, head-spinning tale about Lady Sorcha Hay and Sir Ruari Kerr playing the intense and furious game of kidnapping…which could possibly lead them crashing headfirst into a captivating snare of love. Only, someone else has their eye’s on the prize that is Sorcha. And they are hell-bent on getting their way and causing some trouble.
I loved how both character’s were headstrong and weren’t completely bloodthirsty in their revenge, as it was based solely on feelings. I find that it’s rare to have the hero and the heroine with strong opinions, yet they don’t take away from each other and they aren’t portrayed as being cocky or snobby. This factor made My Lady Captor much more enjoyable to read. Oh, and Neil! Loved her to the moon and back!
The negatives about this book are that the author did quite a lot of kidnapping. It was a bit of a head-spin for me. Also, Sorcha’s brother wasn’t to my liking at all. He seemed a bit weak for a Laird. He was so headstrong about Sorcha and Rauri, then at the end, he just gives up. And last but not least, I felt that Sorcha’s cousin, Elis, was insignificant during most of the book, until the end. I wanted to reach through and pull her out of her selfishness. I felt that Sorcha should’ve been elected the Laird.
I’ve read plenty of Hannah Howell’s novels and she is one of my favorite author’s, but some of the character’s in this book made it difficult to like. However, the plot kept me intrigued and entertained.
I would recommend this book to romance readers who love a whirlwind love story.
LAIRD OF THE BLACK ISLE

Being caught would mean certain death. But the laird of the Black Isle won’t let anything—or anyone—interfere with his mission…not even his beautiful, stubborn captive.
Even his heart
All Mailie MacGregor wants is to return home to her family. And the Highland beast who captured her can go to the devil. Her plan: to thwart him at any cost and win her freedom. But she never expected to be so drawn to the fierce warrior and the desire in his eyes.
MY REVIEW: 5 STARS
Laird of the Black Isle is a masterfully told story that endears the main characters to the reader. Each of the main characters has their trials and tribulations that squeeze the heartstrings.
Lachlan MacKenzie has had his fair share of grief and wants nothing to do with the outside world because of it; until someone brings news that could change his dreary existence…if only he does something unthinkable in return. Mailie MacGregor becomes is captive, but, she doesn’t find him intimidating and ventures out to set Lachlan’s life upside down…and just maybe right side up in the end.
I found heartwrenching sadness, injustice, cruelty, lust, love and finally justice in this novel. So many feelings swirling into a magnificent plot that I couldn’t help to just love. Lachlan stole my heart with his reluctance to accept the love given, yet unable to stop it. And Mailie is a heroine to admire with her perseverance, good heart and boundless hope. Together, they made the perfect couple and I’m glad to have witnessed their story.
I loved everything about this novel and hope to read more from Paula Quinn. I recommend to all romance readers!

The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come . . .
MY REVIEW: 5 STARS
I loved reading this book from start to finish! It reminds me of why I love the middle-grade fantasy genre so much! Holly Black and Cassandra Clare enhances the imagination in The Iron Trial.
The main character, Callum Hunt, wasn’t the typical ‘hero’ I thought I would find. He has flaws and an attitude to match them. But, he has some very great qualities that overshadow his flaws and makes him into someone any kid or adult can appreciate. His father has his opinions that influence Call, but, ultimately it is Call’s decision on whether he wants to accept who he is…or throw it away. As I read this book, I watched Call transform into a sullen, chip-on-his-shoulder kid, to a wonderfully talented young man who has a very big secret.
Loved, loved, loved reading this book and can’t wait to read the next in this series. I recommend to all children and adults!
